AOTOS Autumn Conference

CURIOSITY

Following the popular ‘deep dive’ format of last autumn’s day conference, we move on to all things body-focused:

  • Have you heard of Lessac Kinesenics BodyVoice Training and want to know more?
  • Are you wondering how to apply Feldenkrais Method to how you are teaching Accent Method?
  • Does the study of somatic approaches leave you curious about your own history with your body?

COLLABORATION

Holistic approaches to somatic learning can help us unlock not just vocal freedom in our pupils, but their identity and authentic self-expression, too. Find out how you can work more collaboratively with your pupils to find these results.

INCLUSIVITY

These methods can work for all genres and all ages of pupil, so join us for another highly practical and fun-filled day where you will get to try out the methods, and network in community with other like-minded curious voice practitioners.

We would love to see you there.

Abstracts

Following the success of the wonderful abstract presentations at our last few conferences, the Association of Teachers of Singing (AOTOS) are initiating a call for papers for our 2025 Autumn Conference, to be held on the 1 November at St Paul’s Girls’ School in London.

The focus of this conference will be body, alignment, and movement-based approaches to voice work.

  • We invite submissions for a 15-minute mini-presentation that concerns either the above focus, but welcome topics on any aspect of singing teaching, singing within music education or work with the sung voice.
  • Abstracts should be no more than 500 words and be referenced using the system of your choice.
  • The deadline is 5pm on Friday 10 October 2025, and successful applicants will be notified by Friday 17 October.
  • This invitation is open to everyone, regardless of AOTOS/EVTA membership.
  • Submissions do not need to come from an academic institution and you do not need to have a particular qualification to submit. Abstracts must be anonymous – please do not mention your name – and submit these with a cover sheet that must include your name, membership number if you have one, and abstract title. Abstracts submitted without this will not be considered. Your submission will be blind judged by a panel.

Please note that successful applicants do not receive a free conference pass or travel expenses, and would have to purchase a pass to attend the rest of the conference, but can do so at the member rate.

To avoid geography being a barrier to submissions, AOTOS can pre-record or Live Stream the presentation of the successful applicant if you are unable to attend in person. Simply buy a ticket to the conference as usual, and then we will present your pre-recorded or live presentation via video link.

Please do send any queries to [email protected].

I look forward to seeing you at our Autumn Conference 2025.
