The object of AOTOS is to advance education in the teaching of singing. We do this through our conferences and area workshop days but for many years we have also offered teacher training courses. With a unique focus on mentored training, where a participant teaches a pupil in the studio alongside an experienced mentor, our courses are both practical and inspirational. As the only UK professional body specifically for voice teachers, we are able to draw on a body of knowledge from our whole membership, with experts at the highest levels across all genres, ages and voice types: our philosophy is to encourage openness and the sharing of ideas.
In the current Covid climate, we are reviewing our training provision and developing a new programme of development which will be launched in the not too distant future. In the meantime, we are holding zoom sessions for new teachers. We know that teaching can be quite isolating at times so a little encouragement and guidance can go a long way. If you have been teaching for less than two years and would like some help and support, Joy Naylor would be very happy to hear from you. Please email her at firstname.lastname@example.org to find out how you can connect and enhance your teaching.
We have also set up a 'pod' for new teachers to offer support and advice to those who are new to singing teaching from their peers and hosts Sarah Taylor (Central Area Representative) and Joy Naylor (Professional Development Course Coordinator). Please contact Sarah Taylor at email@example.com for more information.
We look forward to sharing information about our new Training provision later in 2021.
