Marcia Carr

Marcia Carr is Department Lead for Performing Arts and Senior Lecturer at the University of West London, London College of Music.

She has toured for many years both nationally and internationally educating both young and old, facilitating workshops on all aspects of performance studies as well as lecturing to undergraduates and postgraduates on both academic and vocational courses. She is an Associate Artist with the National Youth Theatre and she examines and adjudicates nationally and internationally in all aspects of the Performing Arts.

She is also Director or the Creative Blast Company, an umbrella for transgenerational arts work and performances along with an academy, an agency and a production company which produces shows around Europe and is also Co-Artistic Director of an interdisciplinary award-winning Theatre Company, Impetuous Kinship. She also reviews publications for the Society of Speech and Drama Teachers.

She is currently studying to become a recognised Feldenkrais Practitioner with FITC and completing her graduating year with Sussex 8.

Ian Anderson Gray

Ian Anderson Gray is founder of Seriously Social, a blog focused on social media tools and productivity. He is an international speaker, trainer, teacher, web developer and consultant, and has a passion for making the techno-babble of social media marketing easy to understand. He is co-founder of Select Performers – a family-run web agency. In the past year he has spoken at Social Media Marketing World in San Diego (California), Social Media Convent in Gdańsk (Poland), and New Media Europe in London. He is also a professional singer and teaches at the Royal Northern College of Music Junior School.

Linda Hutchison

Linda Hutchison is a member of staff at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, working with both singers and actors; a member of staff on the Royal Academy of Music’s Post Graduate Musical Theatre course; a guest tutor at the Irish College of Music Theatre, Dublin; and the Specialist Singing Advisor in the Lewisham Voice Clinic. Privately she works with a wide range of professionals from the classical world, music theatre and jazz.   She is co-author with Dr Ron Morris of If In Doubt, Breathe Out! a book on breathing and support based on the Accent Breathing Method.

Dr Gillyanne Kayes

Gillyanne Kayes is a singing teacher, author and voice researcher. She has more than 30 years’ experience working as a singing teacher, and is a recognised expert on vocal technique and problem-solving. She has a PhD on female voice use in different musical genres and frequently leads training workshops for teachers in the UK and Europe. Her published works include Singing and the Actor, chapters for the Oxford Handbook of Singing, the Singing Express series, and This is a Voice, co-authored with husband Jeremy Fisher and commissioned by the Wellcome Trust.

Emma Winscom

Emma Winscom is a professional singer, composer, singing teacher and vocal coach. She has a number of specialisms, most notably multi-genre voice training and the handling of adolescent female voices. She has developed her system of safe, effective and flexible training over more than 28 years of teaching and, to date, has trained around 3,000 students.

A vast proportion of her alumni work professionally in the music, theatre, film and TV industries as singers, teachers, choir leaders, actors, dancers, composers and directors.

She is a member of the British Voice Association and a former Chair of its Education Working Party.

Juliana Janes Yaffé, soprano

Currently lecturer in vocal and performance techniques at Coventry University; principal vocal instructor at Mannes College of Music (1995-2014) and New York University (1999-2008); principal soloist (12 years) in the German opera houses of Münster, Essen, Stuttgart; solo guest engagements: Brooklyn Academy of Music, Lincoln Center Festival, New York Historical Society, Steirischer Herbst Festival, and with orchestras in Colorado, New York, Dallas, Oakland, San Jose, Miami, Istanbul, Berlin, Tokyo, Barcelona, Genova, San Francisco, New York, Darmstadt, Aachen, Osnabrück, Kassel, Berlin; recitals in France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, UK, and U.S.A.; further teaching: Tanglewood Festival, Boston University; currently active globally with Yiddish Folksong Project. John Yaffé, piano

Music Director, 92nd Street Y (New York, 1996-2009), Encompass New Opera Theatre (New York, 1993-2008), Florida Philharmonic (Resident Conductor, 175 performances) from 1989 to 1991; staff conductor in German opera houses of Hagen, Münster, Osnabrück, and Stuttgart (1980-89); guest conductor in Olomouc, Remscheid, Konstanz, Munich, Stuttgart, and throughout the U.S.; led Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra (2007 tour) and performances at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, Colorado Springs Symphony, Staten Island Symphony, Warsaw Philharmonic, State Opera Houses of Turkey and Albania; served as Co-Director of Orchestral and Chamber Music programme at Tanglewood Institute; currently researcher and lecturer in music at Coventry University.

Adam Summerhayes, violin

Accomplishments include concerto premieres, CD recordings, recital and chamber music performances; currently a regular member of innovative Baroque quartet Red Priest; leader/soloist of Adam Summerhayes and His Orchestra: recently on tour as Solo Violinist with Caro Emerald; regular performances in Holland, France, Spain, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Russia, Croatia, and UK; performs and records with Summerhayes Piano Trio, and with ZUM; recordings focus on under-recorded repertoire, including first recordings of Copland and Alan Bush. His disc of premiere recordings of English Romantic trios was released in 2012 by Meridian Records.
