The Association of Teachers of Singers sponsors a yearly professional development course for singing teachers, inspired by Eileen Price. It centres on daily sessions of lessons given by the student teachers to local singing pupils under the supervision and guidance of a master teacher.
Details will appear soon on the 2009 course. For now, please click here for information on the 2008 course.
Comments from previous courses:
“I came for refreshment & re-focus of teaching skills and gained immeasurably more than I expected.”
— Kathy Adams
“It looked such a packed week with a wide variety of topics covered and some marvellous experts in the field of singing teaching — and all for a very reasonable price. I had no idea we would be such a select few – and that was an added bonus. So much personal attention and one to one tuition. Really great in all respects. It is a really lovely venue.”
— Ruth Munro
“This course is one of the best things that I have ever done. An astounding opportunity that I cannot recommend highly enough. Don’t dream it, do it! I made some wonderful friends for life. It was Singing Teacher Heaven! We talked singing all week, and nobody thought we were odd! Lovely site in a beautiful situation. I just wish I’d brought a map of the area to find some better walks – not that there was much time for walking, with everything else to pack in Altogether, they were excellent facilities, and I can’t imagine anywhere better.”
“The master teacher sessions were wonderful and I really felt like thought had gone into putting me with the right master teacher.”
“You get so much expert tuition and masterclasses as well as one to one help that I think it is invaluable to experienced and inexperienced teachers alike and fantastic value for money.”
“The accommodation and food were wonderful and Penny’s organizational skills are second to none — nothing is ever too much for her and she has a smile for everyone.”
— Sarah Jane Cross
“An immensely enjoyable and immersive experience.”
Accomodation…
“Really nice room (I was fortunate enough to get a double!). Great facilities. Nice cosy dining room. Daily ‘maid’ service unexpected, but much appreciated. And having the foyer as a meeting place and party venue was really lovely.”
Food…
“Wonderful food and better service than a hotel. I love good food, and I was in my element!”
— Jane Phillips
“Clear, progressive, supportive feedback with suggestions for development”
“Extremely valuable learning experience with a good balance between observation and discussion”
“I will be returning to my teaching with a renewed enthusiasm’”
